About SCIT

The Saddleback Church Improv Troupe (SCIT) has been entertaining and instructing at colleges and Churches throughout the United States since 2004.

Their energetic, creative, and interactive comedy continues to wow audiences, while their intensive workshops empower and encourage.

Members of the troupe have appeared on national television and worked on major motion pictures.

SCIT was born from the Saddleback Improv Program. A weekly workshop where public speaking and performing abilities are improved and overall confidence is increased through the playing of improv games, and the mastering of the skills associated with the successful execution of said games.

Regular attendees of the Saddleback Improv Program include actors, choir members, students, and corporate executives, all of which have improved their abilities in a safe nurturing environment.

Now SCIT travels throughout the United States performing improv comedy and teaching workshops designed not only to help people of all skill levels and interests become more confident in any endeavor, but to assist in the starting of improv programs as well.

Their shows running anywhere from fifteen minutes to two hours, not only entertain, but involve the audience as well. Comedy is crafted from suggestions provided by the audience, and many games put audience members in the show.

Their workshops, which can range anywhere from half a day to an entire weekend, are based on an established curriculum that focuses on the goals of the attendees, and breaks down apprehensions while building skill levels. Improv games are used to develop the skills and talents necessary to be successful in performance situations.

The workshops also allow SCIT to assist other organizations in starting their own weekly workshops, and energize their existing groups.

The most popular choice of late has been the workshop/show combination. SCIT conducts an intensive workshop during the day and performs the same night in an improv production that features the students from the workshop. Imagine the excitement of learning new skills and techniques, and then having the opportunity to perform what you’ve learned in front of a live audience the same day. These events have been a huge success for performers, audience members, and as fundraisers.
